Everyday Skin Care Routine

January 30, 2017

This is probably the most requested blog post for all bloggers! I have been asked a few times about what I use on my skin, to be honest I’m not like other bloggers I’m actually terrible with skin care :/

I really need to upgrade my skin care routine, regardless of whether you have acne, spots and any other skin issues it’s really important to take good care of your skin!

I don’t use any majorly expensive products, most if not all the products i use are available from any drugstore. I would like to invest more into my skincare but i’m not sure where to start and i don’t want to splurge on something that doesn’t actually end up doing the job. The products i use work for me so far and they’re all very affordable!

So let me start with what I use to remove my make up. Whatever you do don’t go to sleep with your make up on just because you’re too lazy to take it off. Make up has so many chemical ingredients so you really need to make sure you wipe off every little bit off your face. I use this cleansing water by Garnier. I have sensitive skin so this is great and it also does a great job of getting off every layer of mascara and everything else.

Cleansing and toning is actually something i just heard about recently, told you guys i’m lost when it comes to skin care …. :/
I use this facial cleanser and toner water from Lush. Lush products are always great since they’re made from natural ingriedients and are great for my sensitive skin! The cleanser is great for removing any excess make up and the toner water makes your skin feel fresh.

I got this mask as part of a gift set which is from a brand names Sanctuary Spa and can be found in Boots. This is a hot clay mask, as soon as you apply it to your face you can really feel the heat. I’m not sure what sort of benefits the heat brings but clay is known for helping to remove dirt, excess oil and debris from deep down pores.

Clay masks are actually great for people who have oily skin, not so much for people with dry skin. That’s why i only use this maybe once every two weeks.

I got this exfoliating brush from Braun, the brush head is detachable as it also functions as a facial epilator. I don’t really use the epilator as i don’t need it and it doesn’t really pick up hairs that well.

However the exfoliating brush is really good, i use this once or twice a week and i can really notice the difference in my skin. As you may all know exfoliation refers to the removal of the dead skin cells on the skin’s surface. When old skin cells start to pile up on the surface of the skin, it can leave skin looking dull, rough, and dry.

Also the build-up of dead skin cells can result in excess oil and clogged pores, leading to blemishes and acne. So make sure you exfoliate your face at least once a week.

This little tub right here is my holy grail; my nan swears by it, my mum swears by it and now i swear by it! Since i was young this was literally all my mum put on my face. Vaseline or petroleum jelly is very versatile and can be used for sooo many things!

Petroleum jelly is a mixture of natural waxes and mineral oils that together lock moisture in skin, moisturizing it to repair and relieve dryness.

I use this overnight for my eyelashes, lips and any other dry areas on my skin. I also use this during the day for my lips and i have very dry skin around my eyes so tend to rub this in under my eyes. I make sure to rub well as it is quite greasy so does give a shiny look, which can be great to use as a highlighter too!

For some reason i couldn’t upload my own image but this is my daily moisturiser. I use this everyday just before i put my make up on. Like i said earlier i have dry and sensitive skin so this is perfect for me! It give me a nice glow too which works great if you’re going for a dewy look. But be careful not to apply too much as it is quite rich and can come off shiny looking.

And this is the night cream which i use every night. This cream is richer so it can really moisturise the skin over night. This works great for me as i never wake up in the morning with dry skin.

You may or may not have already seen this on other blogs. I first saw this on Huda Beauty’s snapchat, she always raves about this product. This is under eye cream which helps with de-puffing, eye brightening and getting rid of dark circles. Ever since i left uni my bags have been getting worse. I’m not sure if it’s this product or the fact that i am getting more hours of sleep now but my dark circles have improved. I do feel like this does the trick especially with brightening the under eyes. It’s quite pricey for a small tub but deffo worth it.

Last but not least it’s this lovely jar of greatness, like vaseline this is another holy grail. I use coconut oil for my hair and skin, it’s also very versatile and can be used for many things. I use this coconut oil over night. I either apply this or my night cream, both do a great job in keeping my skin moist.

Hope you guys found that helpful! If you have any recommendations for me then please do let me know as i really do need some new products to use.

Desiraindrops x

Do you have any tips for facial hair? Since I have a sensitive skin, I don’t have any idea about to remove facial hairs permanently or for a long time hehehe.

Hey to be honest I use wax strips for sensitive skin and I haven’t had any issues with that or maybe just thread it? In terms of permanent results I think you can only get that from laser treatment which I have never tried out. Hope that helps 🙂
