Updated Skin Care Routine
Skincare seems to be the most popular hype online right now and it’s definitely the fastest evolving market with people spending hundreds on products monthly. We are always on the look out for new skincare routines and trying out the best products for our skin type. If you’ve read my first skin care post you’ll see that I didn’t really have much of a routine, it was actually a rather lazy attempt at keeping my skin looking nice and healthy. However I recently got sent a package from Elemis and I was super excited to try out their products as they are labeled as one of the top British luxury skincare brands. Please note despite being sent this package as a gift I have not been paid to review the products so all opinions are honestly my own 🙂 Also just wanted to add they do NOT test their product on animals which is always a bonus point!
Pro-Collagen – (You will see this word a lot in this post so here’s a short definition) Collagen is a part of the connective tissue that in the skin helps in firmness, suppleness and constant renewal of skin cells. Collagen is vital for skin elasticity.
So to cleanse I use the pro-collagen cleansing balm, so far this has to be my absolute favourite cleanser! The consistency of the cleanser is waxy but glides very smoothly across the skin, it’s made up of Rose and Mimosa waxes and is infused with Elderberry, Starflower and Optimega oils. This also comes with a cleansing cloth and when you use this you can really see the evidence of dirt and make up that is still on your face. I would recommend to keep the cleanser on for max 15 minutes and then remove it with the damp cloth. Also I must add a little goes a long way!
Next step to my routine, I use the age Pro-collagen hydra gel eye masks, again this is another favourite. There’s six eye masks in the box and you can either use it in the morning or for your evening skin care routine. The eye masks are these small sticky gel pads which make your under eyes feeling fresh and awakened. The formula used is made to reduce fine lines and provides an instant skin tightening effect.
To tone my face I use rose water, wet a soft cotton pad with chilled rose water and dab it on cleansed skin. It’s mild astringent properties help tighten the pores and gently tone the skin. It helps to hydrate, revitalise and moisturise the skin giving it a more refreshed look.
The final step for me is to moisturise, this is the most important step for me since I have very dry skin 🙁 So for the morning I either use the Nivea cream which is only a £1 from the local pound shop and trust me it does wonders especially if you want to go for the dewy look. Or I have also started to use the Pro-Collagen Marine Cream which has SPF30 great to protect your skin even in the winter. I use this when I don’t really want to go for a shiny dewy base but rather for a more firm and gentle hydrated look. This like many other Elemis products is made with anti-ageing ingredients. I know I am still in my early twenties but skin specialists have stated that in order for anti-ageing products to work you have to start around your mid/late twenties and yeah I’m nearing that age now unfortunately.
To moisturise my under eyes I use the Origins Ginzing refreshing eye cream, this honestly works for me. It brightens up the under eye area and your eyes look more visibly awake.
In the evening just before I go to sleep I use different products to moisturise since overnight you need to lock in a lot more moisture especially is you share the same skin type as me. I don’t have a set night time routine just yet, I am still experimenting with different oils and creams to see what works best for my skin. I currently use olive oil all over my face and vaseline on my eyelashes. Olive oil naturally has antioxidants, it can help protect the skin from premature skin ageing. I have just started trying out the Pro-collagen Marine Oil, this oil maximises hydration over night while also reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Hope this is useful for you all and thank you for reading.
